Gorillaz marked a new milestone over the weekend with their first performance on Saturday Night Live. During the broadcast, the virtual band brought two songs to the stage, pairing the familiar pull of Clint Eastwood with The Moon Cave, a newer track tied to their latest album cycle.
The appearance gave the group a rare chance to present its animated world in a live TV setting while still leaning on the mix of music, visuals, and guest contributions that has defined the project for years. That balance has long been part of what makes Gorillaz stand apart from more traditional live acts.
Clint Eastwood remains one of the band’s signature songs, so its inclusion connected the set to the group’s early rise. The Moon Cave, meanwhile, pointed to where the project is now and helped frame the performance as more than a look back.
Taken together, the two-song set worked as both a nod to Gorillaz history and a clear update on its current chapter.
