Mastodon And Lamb Of God Share New Metal Collaboration, “Floods of Triton”

After finishing up a co-headlining tour together, Mastodon and Lamb Of God have just shared a new studio collaboration, “Floods of Triton.” Mastodon and Lamb Of God’s recent run of shows were joint celebrations of the 20th anniversaries of their respective breakthrough albums, Leviathan and Ashes of the Wake. And to mark the success of their tour together, the metal giants recorded this fiery joint track that melds the potent musical styles of each band, with Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe handling a majority of the vocals. The track was recorded at Mastodon’s own West End Sound studio in Atlanta and was produced by Mastodon and Tyler Bates. Both Mastodon and Lamb of God are set to play Riot Fest in Chicago on September 22nd, so perhaps the two bands can join forces for a live rendition of their new song. “Floods of Triton” is available digitally and on a 12-inch picture disc vinyl through Loma Vista Recordings. In a recent interview with Sylvia of the Las Vegas radio station KOMP 92.3, Jerry Cantrell shared details about his forthcoming solo album, I Want Blood, which is set to be released on October 18. Cantrell revealed that the title of his new record was partially inspired by Australian hard rock legends AC/DC. Sevendust are hitting the road on Friday (September 13) to launch a US tour to celebrate the 21st anniversary of their Billboard Top 15 album, Seasons. But the band announced on Instagram on Tuesday (September 10) that they will be performing these shows without their guitarist Clint Lowery, who is recovering after suffering a neck injury. “We are excited to get on the road and celebrate the 21st Anniversary of Seasons with you all,” wrote Sevendust. “Unfortunately due to a recent neck injury and under doctor’s advisement, our brother Clint Lowery is going to have to miss these dates. Queen’s Debut Album Being Expanded Into Elaborate Box Set

Queen's 1973 self-titled debut album is getting expanded into a 6-CD/1-LP Collector's Edition that will be released on October 25. The reissue, which has been renamed as Queen I, will feature remastered versions of the songs from the original album, along with demos, unreleased session recordings, and live performances, along with a 108-page book featuring photos, handwritten lyrics, and memorabilia.

"This is not just a remaster," guitarist Brian May writes in the notes. "This is a brand new 2024 rebuild of the entire Queen debut album, which, with the benefit of hindsight, we have retitled Queen I. All the performances are exactly as they originally appeared in 1973, but every instrument has been revisited to produce the 'live' ambient sounds we would have liked to use originally. The result is Queen as it would have sounded with today’s knowledge and technology – a first. Queen I is the debut album we always dreamed of bringing to you." (Ultimate Classic Rock)

Cameron Crowe’s Long Lost Directorial Debut, ‘Tom Petty: Heartbreakers Beach Party’ Heading To Theaters

The 1983 directorial debut of eventual Oscar-winning filmmaker Cameron Crowe, Tom Petty: Heartbreakers Beach Party, only aired once at 2:00 a.m. on MTV. Now, Crowe’s long lost music movie is set to premiere in theaters in honor of what would have been Petty’s 74th birthday. A fully-restored edition of Tom Petty: Heartbreakers Beach Party with an additional 20 minutes of bonus footage will hit theaters for the first time over the course of two nights, October 17th and October 20th. Petty’s 74th birthday would have been on October 20th.

“Heartbreakers Beach Party occupies a special place in my heart,” Crowe said in a statement. “Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers leaned into the making of the film with a kind of hilarious music-filled honesty that still feels fresh forty years later. It was also my first experience as a director. I’m so happy we’re bringing it back in all its reckless glory. The fact that it was yanked from MTV after only one airing at 2:00 AM just shows that it was indeed an outlandish feast for fans in all the best ways. Let that sucker blast!” Tickets are available at the film’s official website. (Consequence of Sound)

Chester Bennington’s Son Deals With ‘Cruel’ Linkin Park Fans After He Criticized Lead Singer Emily Armstrong

Chester Bennington‘s son Jaime has shared that some Linkin Park fans are angry with him after he voiced criticism of Emily Armstrong becoming the band’s new lead vocalist. Jaime expressed his concern in a series of Instagram stories where he details the “aggressive” and “cruel” treatment he was receiving from some Linkin Park fans after he slammed Armstrong’s ties to Scientology and her previous support of Danny Masterson, who was convicted of raping two women and sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.

“There are a lot of people who do not like me. There are a lot of people saying some really awful sh*t right now to me,” Jamie shared. He plans on attending the Linkin Park reunion show in Los Angeles on Wednesday (September 11), but is worried how he will be treated by the fans if they recognize him. “The audience themselves could be unsafe for me. … I do feel it’s necessary to acknowledge the severity of my situation, the ways in which people choose to interact with me,” Jamie said. “So many of these Linkin Park fans who will be attending have been cruel, unusual and aggressive.” (Variety)

Following the public excitement and interest generated by their just announced reunion, Oasis’ celebrated debut album, Definitely Maybe, has made a triumphant return back to the top of the U.K. Official Albums Chart 30 years after its original release back in 1994. Definitely Maybe debuted at No. 1 three decades ago, and returned to top of the chart thanks to the release of its 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, which features previously unreleased studio sessions and demo versions. Judas Priest’s Rob Halford Says He Has No Plans To Ever Retire

During a recent interview with Iowa’s Rock 108 to promote Judas Priest’s forthcoming North American tour this fall, the band's frontman Rob Halford said he has no plans to stop rocking now or anytime in the future. The premiere of Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band took place at the Toronto Film Festival on Sunday (September 8), and during the documentary E Street bandmember Patti Scialfa opens up about her recent cancer struggle. The 71-year-old Scialfa shares in the film about being diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, back in 2018. The cancer diagnosis and the treatment that followed resulted in Scialfa significantly scaling back her public appearances with her husband, Bruce Springsteen, and her live performances with the band over the past few years.

“This affects my immune system, so I have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go,” Scialfa says in the documentary. “Every once in a while, I come to a show or two and I can sing a few songs on stage, and that’s been a treat. That’s the new normal for me right now, and I’m OK with that.” Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band is set to premiere on the streaming services Hulu and Disney+ on October 25.
